My review of Glory (remember I didn't listen to the leak and I received my CD this morning from Best buy)
Strengths: Overall, I love the vibe, energy, sass, personality and vocals. It does give me In the zone continuation to a degree and this puts her back where she needs to be as a pop artist.
Lyrics are much stronger and less structured in the typical obvious way. More unconventional and I like that the most.
Review per track
B Invitation: I kept getting Taylor's Wildest dream sighs. I like it as an opener but I don't get all the hype and I can't believe they were considering this as the next single. WTF???
A+ Do you wanna come over? better with each listen. A future hit in the making.
A Make me. Great sexy track.
B- Private Show. A track only a stan can appreciate.
B+ Man on the moon. I don't think it's as great as some are saying. It definitely gave me teen nick teas. Maybe it'll grow on me
A+ Clumsy. Love this. Love her uptempos. Sass. Energy, Oops. give me southern baptist background vocals. Fittin to go to the french quarter and get some cajun spiced food with this in the background
A- Just luv me. If Bieber and selena had a baby...it's just luv me. I would have liked her to sing it stronger and she sounds better in the 2nd part. I like influence but Britney usually puts herself into it. This wasn't a time where she put enough of herself into it but it's a hit in the making. Bieber technically didn't put i'll show you as a single
A Slumber party. I thought this was going to be more uptempo or more slower. It's kind of like a mid uptempo. It's sexy. I like it but wasn't expecting this based on all the praise.
A Just like me. I was like Love yourself? the first few seconds. I love the lyrics.
A+ Love me down. the first part gave me Taylor blank space style of singing and then I get Fancy teas for 2 seconds. LOVE THIS THOUGH.
B Hard to forget ya. I don't get the hate. this is actually a nice song. This song is sung live Nick Jonas Levels which is sang like an 80s 90s white r&b artist I can't recall the name. definitely a decent album track that I wouldn't play everytime but most times I'd play and not skip
A+ What u need. YOU BETTA GO OFF, Britney. Let HA KNOW...LET HA KNOW WHERE SHE STANDs. Private show wish it could sound this great. It's essentially Private show but the vocals are weird in a good way not in the "a face only your mother would love/a song that a stan would learn to love" BTCH SHE BETTA DO IT. WHEEEEW. Knee slapping. I'm trying to keep up .WHEEEEEEEEW. No she didn't serve vocals with dem low notes

.
This lowkey sounds like a theme song to Mob wives: Lousiana/New Orleans edition.
A+ Better. DISRESPECTFUL. I"M APPALLED that they put this on the deluxe edition. The fact that this is one of the few single friendly songs that don't need a remix or feature. This is amazing. She betta have me swaying and moving my body uncontrolably
C+ Change your mind. I'm sorry I don't see it for this song. It feels very Justified meets one of those teen girl groups trying to be sassy. It doesn't feel Britney. I don't feel the personality and vibe. I decline the invitation. Luv dem vocals though
A- Liar. i feel like this is 3 songs merged together but I can't place my finger on some of them. This is a 4th single material. Why ya'll thought this was a 1st single material I'm not sure
A+ If i'm dancing: FINALLY THE UPTEMPO I wanted but still sung midtempo esque. Not me getting truffle butter chorus + Beyonce end of the time + don't hang up dreamy vocals. I love it and the lyrics are so true. the RIGHT video for this would be mind blowing.
A Coupure Electrique. I'm in a trance. I feel like someone could ask me for my SSN and Account number and i'd give it to them. Was I just hypnotized? Let me order rosetta stone, too while i'm at it.
Lows: Overall, i wanted glory to be strong in her trinity. It's not her best album or her 2nd best and I can make an argument for it being 4th behind Britney but I do think this is better than Britney artistically. structure/theme wise Britney would still be in the trinity. I feel like there were some songs that took a wee bit too much influence from Bieber, Taylor, Selena, Pharrell.
I feel like there are singles but a feature or remix would do them justice whereas usually a feature or remix doesn't seem needed to turn into a single...it's just an added bonus
There are SOOOO many midtempos and even some of the "uptempos" sounds very midtempo. I like when she has the fast spastic uptempo dance tracks and wanted at least 5 of 7 of those.
Also, I only heard 2 or 3 songs that were innovative and fresh. the others seem on trend and easily referenced to another artist. Britney's first 7 albums were very Britney and taking influence and inspiration and making it her own. Not bad but I need a few more listens to put this in her trinity. The strong cuts are STRONG. The weak ones are just kind of pedestrian so at least it wasn't Britney Jean level bad.
My faves (first listen):
If i'm dancing > Better > Do you wanna come over?> Love me down > What u need >Clumsy > Just like me>Make me> Slumber party> Coupure Electrique> Just luv me > Liar>Man on the moon>Invitation>hard to forget ya>Private Show>Change your mind
Album ranks: In the zone > Blackout >>>>>>> Glory (TBH not in the trinity by much. Narrowly ahead of album #4) >/= Britney>>> Oops>>>>Femme fatale>>>>>Baby one more time > Circus>>>>>>>>>Britney Jean
