Bye. Straight people will NEVER understand that a safe space is just a place for LGBT+ kids to be themselves regardless of their sexuality or gender identity. How is that a bad thing? Maybe if we could simply hold hands in public without getting harassed or stared at we wouldn't need safe spaces. Straight people are so pathetic.

I think we can all agree things like the video and the example of the theoretical human biology class are dumb. However, I'm not sure of the extent to which these things are actually happening.

Of course, the most extreme cases are spread around the most because media loves to sensationalize. Take that whole Oberlin food-is-cultural-appropriation mess that got written about by every major publication even though it was so minor and in such a small, isolated community. Was that happening all over the place at every college campus? No.

The people attacking the university's decision on this issue either don't get what actually was decided or would rather people not be challenged academically and stay naïve (the exact opposite point of higher education). Choose your poison.

I entirely support this and would like to see other universities follow suit!

I don't know what I am even supposed to say at the fact that people can't handle opinions other than their own so much that they need "safe spaces". This will be my third year at uni in my country, not once not twice I've talked with someone who is sexist (I'm an active feminist) or racist or homophobic. When someone says some ignorant ****, I don't run away like a freaking cry baby, only I either educate them or drag them.

I don't know what those cry babies in the need of safe spaces think... There will be worse things in independent life than handling someone's ignorant opinion. Hell, they will have to work with ignorant people and they won't be able to do anything about it. To think that our great-grandparents were fighting at wars and young adults these days can't handle words.

I'm a Pole and my people actually turned on the french army during the Haitian revolution of 1804 and joined the Haitian slaves fighting for their freedom and freedom of their country. Other than that, we didn't take part in colonisation or racial segregation at all

But it really has nothing to do with anything. If you think that you won't confort with ignorant people in your "independent" life, then you're delusional. And there will be no safe space to run to. There are many worse things waiting in "real" life than stupid people with their stupid opinions.
