Hasn't the hijab been imposed on women since the spread of Islam? Women are encouraged to wear it. While it's nice to spin a story about how women choose to wear it today, it doesn't mean women have always had the freedom to choose. The fact that it is prevalent today is probably a result of how it was imposed centuries ago. This is, of course, just some food for thought!
