The regressive left is something that does exist, and is completely different to being left-wing.

There are, sadly, a lot on the left that feel they have to take a left-wing view on everything. And defend everything the right opposes. I'm left wing, but for example, I'm not afraid to criticise Islam like a lot of the left are. It baffles me that so many people on the left get so heated and claim "this isn't Islam" on Twitter after every single terrorist attack, despite, you know - the vast majority never actually studying Islam or picking up a Qu'ran in their life. But they do it because that is the narrative of the left, and that is what being progressive apparently looks like. It really irks me, because there are a lot of progressive, liberal Islamic sub-groups out there trying to reform the religion, and trying to make it easier so that, you know, it is possible to come out gay in a Mosque and not be thrown out. Or for women to be treated more equally. Those groups are the people the left should be supporting.

This guy was once a former member of the radical Islamist group before getting out of it. Seriously, listen to him.

Leftists make this claim with no evidence whatsoever. The only way a muslim can become "extremist" is if they are indoctrianted with those beliefs.

How can the right be brainwashing anyone when it's the left that controls education and the media, aka the two greatest forces infiltrating the lives of you and your children.

See, this is always used as an excuse.. but there's really no evidence of it.

The left controls education? Is that why NC schools were trying to bully trans students over where to pee? Like that doesn't even make sense given if you know how schools work (and private schools are usually even more conservative), because they usually reflect the views of the area they're in.

The media argument is really iffy too. Even CNN has many conservative journalists, presenters, segments, shows, etc., yet Fox News hardly has leftists on. Why?

This feels like a lazy criticism that is really just trying to disguise that data shows us younger people are more socially liberal (and slightly more economically leftist) than previous generations, and they are the most likely to use social media and the like. So we see these views more, but do these views have power? Influence? Reach? Not really. Look even to D.C. where one has to be centrist and "play ball" and "work across the aisle".

The idea that there's some evil liberal indoctrinating media is some weird alt-right circle jerk. But I guess because idk young people don't want to be racist anymore or that most young people think war = bad and poverty = bad and discrimination = bad that the ~evil liberals are turning all the youth into tumblr SJWS!!!11~.
