The Voluntary Human Extinction Movement (VHEMT[A]) is an environmental movement that calls for all people to abstain from reproduction to cause the gradual voluntary extinction of humankind. VHEMT supports human extinction primarily because, in the group's view, it would prevent environmental degradation. The group states that a decrease in the human population would prevent a significant amount of human-caused suffering. The extinctions of non-human species and the scarcity of resources required by humans are frequently cited by the group as evidence of the harm caused by human overpopulation.

Technically, the gays are already supporting this movement.

There should be something done about countries in Africa that have booming natality numbers and the solution isn't obstructing pregnancies. The solution is improving education there and generally raising the level of life quality in those areas. Many countries in Europe have a far lower birthrate than those African countries and that's because Europeans are relatively well-educated and live in areas that don't endanger their life.

I do support the cause of this movement, but not necessarily the steps they want to take in order to fulfill it.

Killing yourself would decrease the population faster so why not do that? These people probably look down on people with kids, especially poor people and think they are superior to them. Hopefully these idiots will die alone and sad.

A kii i'd love to see this happen though.It would probably backfire in the worst way possible for the "1st world countries" if it happened, Like they're the "more educated" so a lot more of them would do this to save the world while the "3rd world countries" would not be that much into it. In the end the 1st world countries population would just decrease until it was not that significant and the people from 3rd world countries could just take over them.

Seriously, have we really gotten to the point where we care more about a planet than the survival of our own species? That's not selfless it's biologically stupid.

No I don't but I would support our world being more aware of our population size and to not let it get out of hand.

I support the idea behind the movement, honestly. They're not wrong. There's way too many people and our planet cannot sustain us as it is and we're growing at a very fast rate. It's an inconvenient truth, but that doesn't stop it from being true.
