USA deserves the gold but they are such a young team and inexperienced. Half of their starting players just got out of college compared to the other nations who starts rather earlier in a professional league.(Aaron, Taylor and Micah). I hope Tokyo will realize their dream but for now, the #bronzeisthenewgold

Because in volleyball, losing a semi finals match might mean you could lose all motivation to win the bronze medal match. They were almost there but the chance got away. The Italy Match was a nail-biting five setter. That's not an easy obstacle to get over after a hard-fought battle. Everyone desires a podium finish. Even Russia, the former olympic champion wanted it but they didn't because USA found the courage to win and get the medal.

Maybe if you read his tweet then you'd understand that he isn't undervaluing gold?

USA doesn't even have a professional volleyball league after NCAA. Brazil, Italy and Russia all have. These USA athletes have to go abroad to find work and play volleyball. It's really an impressive achievement considering all of that distance from each other.
