Luke Bryan went #1 on country radio within the past few months with a single that's almost gold—which I guess is impressive nowadays (lord, that's depressing).
No, but almost every single male artist on country radio right now is the same person. They have the same face, same image, same voice, same songwriters, same producers. There is quite literally no distinction between them, and none of them have unique identities. That's why none of them will be remembered. None of them will have classics. None of them will survive in the industry as long as McGraw or Strait.
Growing up with George Strait, Garth Brooks, Tim McGraw, Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, Kenny Chesney, Toby Keith... You could tell them apart. They were DISTINCT. Nowadays...
I think it's funny how hip hop has infected Country music so strongly and their videos now look like rap videos from the 2000s just set in Texas with some white chicks
If everyone sounds the same then only the biggest will be remembered (this usually goes for any genre/time period). The biggest happens to be Luke Bryan.
