No. The evidence points in the opposite direction. There was a study done by the Encyclopedia of Wars where they looked at the relationship between religion and violence and what they found was that only about 6% of all the wars in human history were over religion. The other 94% were over politics, economics, race, culture, class, etc. So eliminating religion will not get rid much of war and violence. People justify violence in the name of anything.
