Why the world (partially) is obsessed with American culture?
Why everyone listens to American music more than their native one? Why they like so much watching American movies and TV series? Why they take the American slang words and use in their daily lives?
Because that's what the media pushes the most. The Western media is obviously dominated by the US. But if you go to, for example, Russia, it's different. They have their own social network (VK), they use brackets instead of smileys, and they're less US-oriented, so it's just the Western world relying a lot on the US.

The obesity statistics are fascinating - how a country with such access to education but lacks basic info on nutrition has me obsessed.
Also it's particularly staggering how half the country seems to be fervently supporting an outwardly sexist, racist rich white reality TV star as their country's leader.
not sure. According to non American ATRLers everything about the US sucks even though they are on a US made forum, talk about US artists, US movies, US politics and US social issues?
I don't know but it's kinda annoying. I feel like it takes the originality out of our culture and invites people to comment on American things while they have no idea what it's like to be American.

Interesting indeed.
There are 320 million people in the US. 15 million voted for him to be the nominee. That is about 4% of the entire country try again lets talk about lack of basic info.

If you look at how many of those 320M people were eligible to vote, and how many actually voted, I'm sure that percentage would be much more tragic.

on average about 100 million people vote in the general election. As of now it looks like it will be a landslide LOSS for Trump but people can keep believing that the US is full of ignorant racist white people if they choose. Unfortunately for them its just not the case.
I agree about the fact that US dominates media, plus I think they're bewteen the best when it comes to entertainmnet in general, the budget is higher in general.
Here in Italy the American culture is very strong since ever, from movies, tv shows, music, political news, products like Apple, ecc.

Because bad food is cheaper than healthy foods. We can't go to our neighborhood vendor and buy food, we have to drive a couple miles to the nearest Wal-Mart or something but we have tons of fast food places everywhere.
Plus in High School we never learned about nutrition or healthy foods.
