A bit off topic:
I feel like Mayer and 50's albums were sort of the opposite of each other. While 50's album contained strong production, it was littered with mediocre bars that more or less repeated the same thing. "Thematically monotonous" as Paul put it. On the other hand, the majority of Mayer's album contained strong lyrics (at least imo) while the instrumentation was incredibly samey throughout the whole album (bar two tracks). I think that's why their albums were the most polarizing in this rate. Just a though
