Woman thought she saw a man with a gun at JFK Airport
Panic ensued at John F. Kennedy Airport after a passenger told police she saw a man with a gun at Terminal 8, leading to massive evacuation.
The woman told an officer about the alleged gunman a little after 9:30 p.m., leading to a massive law enforcement hunt for the armed man.
NYPD Emergency Services Unit officer with automatic weapons scoured the area and passengers were taking cover outside cement traffic barriers.
Thousands of passengers were forced to flee the airport.
“If you’re forgetting anything it’s not worth your life, everyone move now!” one officer yelled.
“I went in to get a boarding pass, the guy from the counter bolted out and everybody was running around and I’m like what the f—ck,” said Robert a New Yorker flying to London. “We got motioned to go in to security, we wait there and the police motioned for us to go out. So we all ran out…It was freaky.
Police sources said that they found no evidence of shots fired, but they were still searching the terminal for the possible armed.
