I hate how ATRL still thinks that homophobia is rare and everyone on this tiny planet is an open-minded liberal.
Gays there get beaten up, battered, disowned, murdered and harassed (both verbally and physically) mostly in the name of their religion, not to mention that the majority of them still remain closeted, but God forbid you hurt their feelings
I suppose it's coming from the same people who think that human rights violations outside the western world, especially in the middle east and southeast asia, is a part of their 'culture' and we have to respect it just like they respect our culture. As if 
Islam is a huge issue. It's not necessary and kills gays, oppresses women. But no one says anything bad about that, because political correctness is more important than human lives.
