Instead of making it seem like these problems are the fault of the gay community and that the gay community needs to fix them, I think we need to take a multi-angle approach to the problem. That includes gays having an open discussion about things like this, but it also includes straight people helping to end the culture of homophobia and heternormativity that gay people are born into.
