What you're referring to is actually a combination of both "fragile masculinity" and "internalized homophobia." Those, unlike "gay voices" are real.

The term "gay voice" wouldn't even be a term in the first place if not for A) femininity-fearing straight men who mock gay men and B) "masc" queens negatively judging their fellow hunties' more obviously feminine qualities (just like those aforesaid straight men do).
