Dozens of Republicans sign open letter urging RNC to cut Trump's funding saying his chances of winning are 'evaporating day by day'
- Open letter asks resources to be diverted to House and Senate races
- It's been signed by more than 70 elected officials and party staffers
- Says Trump's 'recklessness' risks a Democratic landslide in November
- Cites a string of Trump gaffes, including attacking Gold Star families and calling on Russia to find Hillary Clinton's emails

More than 70 frustrated Republicans – including elected officials and staffers – have signed an open letter urging RNC chairman Reince Preibus to stop funding Donald Trump’s campaign.
As Trump continues to slip in the polls, the signatories are asking for the party to instead focus resources on maintaining the GOP’s majority in the House and Senate.
The letter, obtained by Politico, says Trump’s chances of winning in November are ‘evaporating day by day’ and that his ‘recklessness’ and ‘incompetence’ risks handing the election to Hillary Clinton by a landslide.

More than 70 frustrated Republicans have signed an open letter urging RNC chairman Reince Preibus to stop funding Donald Trump’s campaign. Above, Trump speaks at a rally in Kissimmee, Florida, on Thursday
Quote:
It lists a string of problems with Trump’s campaign, including his many controversial remarks, his refusal to release tax returns and his claim that he may not uphold NATO treaty requirements.
It adds Trump’s actions, such as attacking Gold Star families, praising dictators and calling on Russia to find Clinton’s missing emails, have ‘alienated millions of voters of all parties.’

Quote:
‘Those recent outrages have built on his campaign of anger and exclusion, during which he has mocked and offended millions of voters, including the disabled, women, Muslims, immigrants, and minorities,’ the letter says.
It also cites the 70-year-old billionaire’s ‘dangerous authoritarian’ tendencies, such as his highly controversial pledge to ban all Muslims – 1.6 billion members of an entire religion – from entering the United States, his nonchalant comments on torturing prisoners and killing the families of suspected terrorists and his plan to ‘use executive orders to implement other illegal and unconstitutional measures.’
Signatories include former Senator Gordon Humphrey, of New Hampshire, as well as former Reps. Chris Shays of Connecticut, Tom Coleman of Missouri and Vin Weber of Minnesota.
Also signed up are around 20 former RNC staffers.
Andrew Weinstein, who was director of media relations for the Dole/Kemp campaign, is one of the people behind the letter.
Weinstein told Politico the letter is from ‘people who want the party to protect its majorities in the Senate and House.’ He added that ‘it’s not an endorsement of anybody.’
Trump dismissed the letter, saying he doesn't want the support of the Republicans who have signed it.
Meanwhile, Trump threatened to stop fundraising for the RNC if it were to shift its money away from his campaign to House and Senate candidates.
