I'm no longer worried about the slow iTunes movement for Telephone seen as tcatron just posted the mediabase info that for the monitored channels, Telephone only got one play on MTV yesterday. I guess the channels weren't playing the long edit, so we couldn't have expected Telephone to move. Let's see if things change as the edited version circulates.
Exactly, the full effect of the video won't be realised until it is being played on all the TV channels. Thus far I think it is safe to say that the majority of viewers have been GaGa fans and/or internet users who have searched for the video. I'm sure there's plenty of casual buyers who have not seen the video yet, and will be eager to purchase Telephone upon viewing the masterpiece. Casual buyers will be crucial to the success of this song.
Well I dont really know if TV is such a big factor since MTV barely plays music videos anyway and I dont think that would cause a big impact on iTunes... I think the internet is more imporant because Bad Romance was soaring up really fast iTunes right after the video and the day after...
I really think its just because Telephone is a 6th single overall so the sales would be slower
5 million people, to put it in perspective, have bought JD & PF each.
Since I doubt Telephone is the first song people are buying from TF/TFM, that leaves about 2 million.
Yeah I could tell that was really why even from how it was performing on iTunes before the video. Everybody already has the album and for those who dont own it, Telephone is probably just gonna convince them to get it instead of just downloading the individual song since now that she's had 6 straight hits...
