She had her brother assassinated to become of the pharaoh of Egypt, had an affair with Julius Caesar (a married man who was twice her age) to secure Egypt from Roman conquest. Purposefully had his only child to not only lock in independence but have him become the Roman Emperor. When Caesar died, she then had an affair with Mark Anthony, had her sister assassinated, gave birth to his children even though he was married. And when Rome decided to take Egypt she committed suicide by a snake bite, Mark Anthony heard about this and he killed himself. Augustus the first emperor of Rome didn't want Cleopatra's son to take his throne had him assassinated. As was mentioned by Homer.
Her story is memorable, and filled with ancient juicy gossip. From Shakespeare to Elizabeth Taylor, I can't think of one woman who even comes close to Cleopatra in fame.
She died over 2,000 years ago and she still is the focus of plays, books, movies, and pop culture. True pharaoh of longevity.
