The developers of No Man's Sky, a hyped, flagship release for the PS4 platform, initially claimed on numerous occasions that players would be able to run into each other if in the same area.
However, it has just now come to the attention of the No Man's Sky community that the developers lied - no such multiplayer exists.
I'm pretty sure the two players even admitted it was a different time in their game, despite the fact it was the same time in real life.
The dev said it was incredibly rare, and it sounds like it is. It's not as easy as meeting up at the same spot.
It must be the same time in-game as well it sounds like.
So what you're saying is that they never would have known that the devs lied about multiplayer had they not arranged a meeting?
I needed a catchy title, hush
Stop being so dramatic, the game was always advertised as a "single player expierence", one random interview that no one watched doesn't change that. "False advertising"
here's how the game works, It's an online game and it's supposed to be one big world.
The more players, the more likelihood of you running into another player. You can name creatures that you meet in any planet, and other players who come to the same place as you were will read those names.
It's possible to run into someone but it's so big, you'll have to go very far to see anyone.
Not surprised Sony is trash. The fact that a lot of people got their account hacked recently, either by removing their primary PS4 or losing their account along with up to $150 of cash, and they haven't adressed the issue
Murray added, “What we want is for the player to play with a sense of that other people have been there before. So what will reasonably happen is going to a planet and discovering that someone else has been there before you. You will see traces of them, like creatures they've named and things they left behind.”

While one user has claimed the issue is widespread, it seems more likely that this is a problem for a smaller contingent of people over the last two days.

Neverwinter gems were also a common thing being purchased in these instances, even if the user had never played the game.

Fortunately, many of the users have also said that simply calling Sony's customer support resolved the problem in about 20 minutes, and people got their money back. If this has happened to you, don't hesitate to call Sony's customer support at 1 (800) 222-7669.
