Tbh. Outside of Feedback and the MJ and wasn't aware of Janet's solo history before I joined atrl. But atrl didn't teach me about her. I saw a documentary on British television, and they also used to play loads of Janet medleys on music channels so that's how I got into her.

Kylie Minogue was big in Europe and was mostly irrelevant in the states, but she gets a pass and she doesn't have half the legacy of Janet.

Yes. She hasn't really had much impact and her sales are pretty low compared to actual legends like Madonna and Whitney.

She's only overrated on atrl because she's unknown irl by nonstans.

How can any of you honestly comment on someone's impact and success when you weren't even around when she was at the height of her career? Janet's a legend and a pioneer for the entertainers of our generation she's one of the most successful critical acclaimed female stars in America entertainment history her past cannot be erased she's cemented in the history books her impact goes beyond hit singles.

Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez, Pink, Britney spears arguably 4 of the biggest female entertainer's of our generation all state Janet Jackson is there inspiration there idol and so forth so her impact has influenced this generations of entertainment megastars

In the real world she is justly-rated but on ATRL she is criminally underrated. And the "I didn't even know who she was before ATRL o_O", "oi you mean Michael Jackson sister x'DD", "not in the US but yes WW :P" and "I can't even name one song by her -_-" comments literally only reflect on a person's unfamiliarity and/or ignorance with pop music before their generation. Poor things giving themselves that secondhand embarrassment.

Who is arguing that Janet is relevant outside of the US? Secondly, it's presumptuous to say that Janet is irrelevant outside the US just because Europeans don't use her.
