I'm not an expert on all of the artists but Beyonce and Rihanna are so big because of talent, marketing power and music quality.
Is this thread not completely disregarding Nicki Minaj's success? I know she is mainly a rapper but she is mainstream and has had some pure pop hits.
Let's also not forget that some of the most iconic artists of all time are black women, Whitney Housten, Tina Turner, Diana Ross, Janet Jackson. Missy Elliot is also worth a mention. And then there are the girls who literally a paved the way for everyone else, Nina Simone, Aretha Franklin, Ella Fitzgerald, Gloria Gaynor, Billie Holiday, the music industry has a lot to thank black women for and they definitely need more recognition.
I also think that some of the emerging black female artists are immensely talented and even if they do not achieve huge commercial success they have dedicated followings and music that will age better than quite a few of the standard pop girls.

how many main latina pop girls are there? maybe Shakira still outside of the US
and how many main asian pop girls? not one
this isn't a "racism" issue, stop reaching ATRL

Adele, Katy, Taylor, Pink, Christina Aguilera and Lady Gaga. Britney too.
My point was that the last girl to breakout was a white girl(Ariana Grande). She's extremely talented and her career is well deserved, but a new black female soloist wouldn't receive the same kind of support and push.

I blame Stans of rihanna and bey. Anytime a black female is successful, she's compared to rih and bet and than they drag them to irrelvancy ( keri hilson, keyshia Cole) or they don't support them because they don't want their fave to be threatened (Tinashe) that's why I don't really like the navy vs hive Stan wars because once bey and rih are gone we will have NO WOC superstars. We need to support both.

I said main pop girls, which is what this thread is about. And mess at some members mentioning a certain white girls as main pop stars, I guess Ciara, Kelly Rowland and Keri Hilson are also main black girls by their standpoint
This thread was made to point out how this is a "race issue" which it isn't, and you point out arguments that can be pointed out to different races, yet you're only bothered enough to talk about one and ignore others races and their issues, which in fact is actual racism

You sound foolish and you're weirdly angry whenever a thread pointing out the lack of black women killing it on the charts is made.

I already made reason as to why black women are slaying the game, but you all add all these stipulation to make it seem as female black artists are opressed and unsuccesful.
a "Nicki Minaj first female black rapper from this decade to hit solo #1 on iTunes under 24 hours" teas

But they aren't slaying the game
Beyonce, Rihanna & Nicki are. They are the only ones that have had a vast amount of unaided success for the past 6 or 7 years. The only ones that have done it alone. Lemme know who else is slaying the game Hun. I'll wait.

as I already pointed out, there are other black women who are slaying the game, and they were at peak in the 90's and were doing good in 00's too!
as for this decade, there are black female artists like Alicia Keys, Kelly Rowland, Tinashe, Ciara, Keri Hilson, Zendaya, Missy Elliott, Mariah, Willow, Sevyn etc. who find themselfs success this decade, but you all wanna scrap their success because of the fact their had rappers on their songs and lower their impact. First of all they do urban music which isn't as huge as Pop music and second it's a common that urban artists have collabs on their songs.
you're really trying to make it seem as Charli XCX and Tove Lo who had solo Top 10 hits are bigger artists than someone like Ciara who still has loyal fanbase who buys her music. It just happens that Charli and Tove had hit material that the GP liked.
Not to mention international female black artists like Emeli Sande who doesn't do urban music, yet she is one of the few female artists to sold 4+ million copies of her album this decade. Why don't you mention her success? Kelly Rowland was HUGE in Europe in 2011 to a point where her music was played more than Beyonce's music from her "4" era.

Its not completely racism, but racism is involved in the industry and sometime bigots are biased towards their kind.
But I want to say that all these new cats have the same image, sing the same way, have familiar tones, dress a like, and so on.
In the 90s, there NEVER was this problem because although everybody dressed like the 90s, everybody still had their own lane/image. The 90s was a great period for black female artist.
And its not the Beyhive or Navy fault for people flopping. Remember stans only have impact on social media and I strongly believe the industry deliberately makes it harder for women of color to shine.
For example, whenever someone new and black comes onto the scene, she's instantly compared to another artist which could seem disrespectful to some. This makes a stanbase get defensive and y'all should stop doing so. They keep playing y'all like fiddles.
I also want to say that the industry would rather push a lighter skin tone woman than a darker one for ignorant reasons.
This topic is so deep and I could go on but this post is already long. The last thing I do want to say is that a black woman will rise soon, but I think she's unknown to the public. Maybe she'll be around the next two years or so.

Part of it does have to do with genre, pop vs R&B. Part of that is racism too. But hey, 3 successful pop stars right now and a few others in the past is at least something. Latinas, Asians, and Middle Eastern people in the US wished they were represented more in music in general
