I'm literally in the same position. I've known my best friend for almost 8 years now, and I always feel that I'm putting in way more effort.

And now he moved up to San Jose, and doesn't even send me a text to see how things are going, or to update me on anything. I stopped putting in effort, and now I'm just waiting to see what happens. Our friendship will probably deteriorate if I don't do something, but I'm just so indifferent towards the whole thing now.

This is exactly my situation too and I know it's going to be worse when I move across the world. It just sucks because I don't want to lose him but I feel like he takes that for granted. Sometimes it's like he doesn't even care anymore
