Nintendo's stock price plummeted after investors found out that Nintendo's creative output in the making of the phenomenon was minimal and that it barely owns mote than a quarter of the shares in pokemon go.

That however shouldn't deter them from capitalizing on the brand. Should they exploit the franchise and rush release a flagship location based pokemon title for the NX? CAN this save Nintendo or will it remain an embarrassing gimmick and looked down by gaming historians as one of many Nintendo blunders / embarrassments?

No because Nintendo actually has massive IPs to back their console.

NX is reported to have a GameFreak Pokemon game within the first 6 months. This will sell units. Putting Pokemon GO on NX won't sell units as people will just continue to play it on their phone.

I would love a sequel to Pokemon Colloseum/XD with a new region.

Not when they have sold more first party software than Sony and Microsoft. They have also sold more consoles than Sony and Microsoft this generation. They also have more money than Sony and Microsoft.

The NX was doomed the second it came out that it would have worse specs than the PS4/XBONE Way to sever any possibility of getting third party game developers to produce games for your console.

This was the same problem the Wii U had. At the end of the day Nintendo can release all the first party games they want, they need the support from third party developers Times have changed. People would rather get a console where they can play Fallout 4, 2K games, EA Sports games, etc. than Mario Kart.

Why would Go be on the NX? What would Go on the NX bring that it can't on mobile?

The whole purpose of Go is to be a mobile friendly Pokemon game. They'll never put a full game like Ruby or X&Y on mobile because some phones at the moment couldn't handle everything needed for a big game so this idea of Go was created to be a new, lighter experience, geared in the mobile world.

Yes I know the NX will most likely have a portable device like the 3DS but still, there would be no point putting Go on this. Especially since they have a GameFreak game coming out at release that will be more for what people want with an actual console.

Nintendo needs to make an XD/Colosseum sequel. I'd deadass buy the console just to play that game

The PS4 is at around 38m sold now. Wii U was a certified Rotten score.

That would require not only GPS to be added on but also cellular data. Sure, many phones can act as a hotspot but there's usually an additional fee from the carrier. Seems a bit much for something that isn't going to replace a cell phone.

The fact that it is mobile at all is stupid. They see their home console sales plummet and think that the way to fix it is to go even further down the road of what the consumer doesn't want. It's not the 90's anymore. They're not the big dog on campus anymore. Sony and Microsoft have each built up their own following.

When it comes to me and what console I'll buy, I'm looking for something powerful, capable and future proof. That's why I went with the PS3 last gen. Great gaming system and a Blu Ray player in one.

Comparable specs to the competition

Great, no gimmicks controller

Hard drive storage starting with at least 500 GB

Force Game Freak to allow a Pokemon RPG console game. Not something like Colosseum/XD or Battle Revolution and do justice to the other iconic Nintendo titles

Fix the online multiplier and get it up to date

3DS and Wii U combined.

And the Wii U has not outsold the Xbox One.

NX is a successor to the 3DS rather than the Wii U.

In that case, I understand the 3DS did that already (portable King; mobile gamers seethe!). But including Wii U in that when it has a third of the 4's sales.

No hate for the system that brings us Pokémon.

Mess, thought it hit 13 like 2014 because I remember seeing similar numbers when the 4 and One were getting off the ground library wise.

The east coast and third parties don't got love for nx?

If the NX can successfully merge handheld and console, they'll pose a big threat.

They're known for having strong IPs, but the mobile, handheld systems typically sell better. If they can find a way to master the seamless switch from handheld to console without having to sacrifice graphic quality or frame rate, they won't flop.

This could also mean the first possible transition for main Pokemon games into console format.

As much as people want Nintendo to fail, they will continue to sell units because their first party IPs are so strong. Practically every single one of their first party IPs is an iconic, generation-defining franchise, and they know how to capitalize off of that. Nintendo is here to stay for at least a couple more decades to come, even if the NX doesn't sell the way they are hoping.

Also idk if putting GO on the NX would work the same as smartphones. People already have smartphones which is the whole reason why GO got so big. There was no barrier to people downloading it and trying it out. The adoption rate would be tragically lower if GO required people to purchase a brand new $300+ console. And from the looks of NX leaks, it doesn't seem to be nearly as portable or convenient as a smartphone either.
