As much as people want Nintendo to fail, they will continue to sell units because their first party IPs are so strong. Practically every single one of their first party IPs is an iconic, generation-defining franchise, and they know how to capitalize off of that.

Nintendo is here to stay for at least a couple more decades to come, even if the NX doesn't sell the way they are hoping.
Also idk if putting GO on the NX would work the same as smartphones. People already have smartphones which is the whole reason why GO got so big. There was no barrier to people downloading it and trying it out. The adoption rate would be tragically lower if GO required people to purchase a brand new $300+ console. And from the looks of NX leaks, it doesn't seem to be nearly as portable or convenient as a smartphone either.
