My dad doesn't vote anymore because "there is no trustworthy political party in Italy" (I don't blame him), but his and my mom's ideals are very liberal.
My father was a Republican all the way up to his death, my mom recently switched from independent to Republican because the liberals want to destroy her home country.
They both voted for Merkel's conservatives in the last federal election (2013). But in this year's state election I convinced my mum to vote for the Greens, while my dad voted for the liberal democrats.
