It's a fair question. It's strange how some gays cannot empathize with other minorities. Maybe they just don't see the connection.

Being on the receiving end of discrimination unfortunately doesn't equip many with the ability to therefore empathise with and attempt to work against other forms of discrimination.

The homophobia within the black community is, in my opinion, a result of pervasive Christianity and also a culture of hypermasculinity.

The racism within the gay community is because white people (the most predominantly racist group in society..this cannot be argued) can also be gay. Seeing as most racists are white and white people can be gay, it makes sense that white gay people can therefore be racist.

I would add that poverty in the black community also reinforces homophobia. My experience is that the working classes are more likely to exhibit discriminatory behaviour due to lack of social mobility and less education resources.

I really do not understand where some people get the gall to discriminate against others when they aren't exactly on top of the food chain themselves.

I'm not saying that your typical rich white Christian straight male has the right to discriminate against whoever they want, but it's obviously a lot harder for them to empathize with people who are discriminated against because they've never been discriminated against to the degree that a poor POC would, for example.

I don't discriminate against women, POCs, the LGBT, etc. because I'm in about the same boat being a gay. (And I'm a decent human being obviously...)

anyone, with any color or sexual preference can be racist. but i see your Point, it kinda "makes more sense" if a person that´s traditionally priviliged throughout the times (in the west that is a White, straight man) is racist b/c of wanting to keep the supremacy going and not being in a surpressed situation.

! The gay community is VERY hypocritical. They preach about equality and love and tolerance yet they treat their POC LGBT members like trash. I've read many stories of their being "ethnic" nights at clubs and POc not being let into certain gay club.
