Well, objectively speaking, obviously they're equal. But don't try telling me you'd have difficulty choosing between the death of a family member or a chicken on the other side of the world. And humans will naturally value the lives of other humans more than animals since we can understand humans better and form much more meaningful relationships with them.
It depends on the perspective... but in nature, no, human lives aren't more valuable.

You're obviously going to choose the one you have a personal connection with. I could just as well ask you to choose between a pet and an unknown human.
What makes you think we're more "important"? Our intelligence that led us to destroy the world and murder entire species of animals? Why is intelligence automatically deemed as "better"?

I'd save human lives over animals, but there are always a few exceptions where I would rather save an animal over people such as ISIS supporters, Westboro people, SJWs, tumblr people,rednecks etc.

We are the superior species made to feast on animals. If God wanted animals to not be eaten by humans he would have made them smart enough to talk to us and tell us not to eat them
