Not my fault only Olly serves bops on the mainstream. Than we have the likes of Frank Ocean and Blood Orange who are amazing at what they do and many others not so mainstream gay artists. Anohni is the true lgbt queen tho
Blood Orange isn't gay. Well he doesn't identify as gay at least. He has a girlfriend.
Essentially, none of the gay artist meet the archetype for hot male (if Frank is gay/bi, he is an exception), so they get dragged for their "short comings". Troye is too feminine, Sam (is genuinely annoying) is not a hunk, and Adam is too eccentric.
Thus is nothing new, most gay men will Stan the divas before a male artist. Freddie Mercury and Elton John were openly gay/bi in the 70's but I bet you most gay men then were getting their lives to Diana Ross and Barbra Streisand than they were their fellow gays.
Even today to most gay men Gaga and Beyonce are easily better than Sam Smith or any other gay male artist.

the fact that straight people loved gay artists then and still do today versus gay people disrespecting gay artists and bopping with divas
I think the issue is more about Sam Smith, personally I don't like him and his sexuality has nothing to do with it, I don't like him as artist in general, I don't like the way he sings, I find his voice annoying also I don't like his personality when it comes to interviews or statements.
The rest they seem pretty much respected in here, Adam Lambert is very great as singer but he doesn't have a proper promo or an interesting project, Troye has his followers.
