Blacks aren't getting shot or the situation is nowhere near what it is in the US. But there is still a problem with the way a lot of black guys are discriminated against and treated by the police over here.
"21% of young men under 18 in custody were black - though black people only made up 4% of the general population.", and a lot of people feel that is down to how black people are targeted. A young black guy is up to 28 times more likely to be searched than a young white guy... so who is going to get caught carrying something they shouldn't be? The black guy.
There is also very little representation of black people still in top jobs, in parliament, or in institutions like the police force.
There has sadly been a massive increase in hate crime and racist attacks since we've left the EU - as well. A lot of these have been targeted at arab-looking people, but black people as well. Some people sadly think this is a country for white people with a certain accent - seriously.
So although the situation isn't like it is in the US, labeling it stupid or unnecessary is wrong (although yeah - attacking transport links is the wrong way of going about it)
