Amerie would have trouble selling an album period so I understand why he wouldnt go up and beyond for somebody like that. .but I agree that he should slow down signing people but even still he's no different than other labels because JIVE is the same way and even worse because all their 2009 albums flopped and none of their acts that released last year sold more than 300k!

People aren't understanding Rated R. First off, the article is incorrect. The album hasn't even passed 2 million worldwide. It's doing poorly all around. It's not a flop, so don't think I'm saying such. But it is doing significantly worse than GGGB. You can blame single choices, and everything in the world but the point is it's a loss.

L.A. Reid needs to be canned.

Anyway, regarding L.A. Reid, he obviously can't focus on more than one artist at a time. he dupes everyone he ignores

Rated R proves that Rihanna albums just sell better over time. She doesn't need incredible first weeks to sell well.

Rude Boy doesn't show the album's theme well. HOWEVER, it is a great 3rd single, & it is getting Rihanna her well-deserved smash.

Anyway, back to thread, L.A. Better not screw Rihanna's image over. EVER!

I can't forgive him for screwing up Pink's career during the Try This era. She could have sold at least a million in the US with that album but they just abandoned the whole thing after barely 2 singles and 700k album sales. At least she got a grammy out of it

UM he's the one that didn't want "Migrate" as a single. Actually, for the first single of E=MC2, he wanted "I'm That Chick".

Mariah wanted "Migrate" but her team voted and chose "Touch My Body".

You guys might disagree with me but, back in November, the hype around Rihanna new song was huge! Then they released Russian Roulette, and it got a lot of people disappointed!! That ruined Rated R sales. They should've released Rude Boy first, and with the hype that was around in that time, it could've been #1 in one week.

I totally disagree, for one thing we were going into winter. Rude Boy is a spring/summer song. For another, it's a misrepresentation of the album--people would've been put off by Rated R's being such a departure from the first single itself.
I don't think Russian Roulette was the best choice either but it fit the theme.
