What flabbergasts me is these homophobic gangs that 'punish' the gays by raping them?
I know it's probably a power thing, but like, a lot of the straight guys I know couldn't get hard for a guy in any situation - so are most of these gay rapers/killers actually homosexual themselves?

Anyway this is really sad and my thoughts are with the victim's friends/family.

What happened to this man is truly disgusting and horrible, so may he rest in peace; but this is precisely what I was going to comment on.

In some cases, rape is indeed not about "sexual pleasure" but about dominating, controlling and humiliating someone else, that's how they get their kick. But I can't seem to wrap my head around a group of "straight" guys, seeing each others privates parts, being hard and raping a man one by one. How does this work ? Specially since they're so disgusted by gay people, you would think their first thought would be to kill the guy and not rape him...

There's gotta be a lot of self hatred among gay men in these extremely islamic countries.

Homophobia is real and alive. It's just sad to hear stories like this still happen nowadays. I don't know when will these kinds of people step into this century.

Unfortunately I know the answer because we discussed this frequently in one of my uni classes, and it has nothing to do with suppression of their own sexuality. Sadism mixed with sociopath tendencies results in this. They get off on humiliating, controlling, abusing, even killing others. They might be gay, they're more likely to be straight but the fact still remains, they don't care about the gender, they care about the act. In their head raping a gay guy is sort of like putting out fire with fire. 'We're gonna show u and turn this thing you like into something scary, something revolting.'

So messed up. And tumblr types want to say that homophobia is worse in the west/a Christian invention.
