Oh my god! I forgot a crucial part! Before she was a vegan, which was about two years ago, she was the type of woman who had to have luxurious high end products, especially leather/animal fur, etc. She doesn't buy anymore real animal products, but she still keeps her leather/animal fashion products(she doesn't use them anymore), simply because of the sentimental value that she had with them two years ago(i.e. her husband flew all the way from michigan to new york to get her this one of a kind Purse for their one year anniversary)
sorry
I think people forget too that there are very few absolutes in veganism. There are many crossroads that vegans can have differing opinions towards - to keep the old leather, or not? (for example). Vegans are such because of a common interest in any of three primary categories - pursuing good health, to avoid catastrophical environmental damage and save the lives and slaughter of animals. I completely understand why some people would feel funny about the fact that she's keeping the old clothes - but it's something that I did, too. My justification was that I'm vegan primarily in the interest of environmental conservation, and by the time I went and bought new stuff I was probably being wasteful. People more interested in animal rights may feel the opposite - that wearing a dead animal is kinda just gross once you realise how it came to be.
I think this angst has come about because she's a public figure. If I was a youtube or famous in some capacity and went vegan, I'd make sure to change out my closet so that I'm no longer promoting the "look" of animal clothing to the masses. For me right now though, I'm not sending much of a message if I walk down the street with a leather belt.
It's rather fruitless to argue about "the more vegan" option - you could do it till the cows came home. To me - and to many other vegans I'm sure - my mission is to just try and get as many people thinking about the lifestyle in the first place!
Vegans don't exist because being completely abstinent of any animal products is impossible, especially in capitalist society. Oh boy, capitalist vegans, totally makes sense . Unless you're dead or live off radar in some forest, you are not vegan. Sure, want to be a partial vegan? Wait, someone remind me, what's the point in being a partial vegan? Oh, so I respect some animals and not all? Then you are normal, not vegan, sorry hehe.
I agree, if you say you're eating or drinking sumn in a thread they will jump on you right away, I respect peoples views but they act so rude bout it, Only like 1 has been nice to me.
yeah...
some are just a damn mess..

A lot of people think it's just a diet but it actually isn't, it's a lifestyle. The phrase "vegan" and The Vegan Society were founded on the principle of not exploring animals through food, clothing or any other method. It's an animal rights issue not just a dietary one.
I mean it doesn't really make a difference to me what peoples reasoning are for going vegan tbh, the fact that they are still helping animals and the planet is all that really matters. I respect them regardless.
I agree there are some crazy vegans out there like Freelee the banana girl and Sorsha who make videos insulting meat-eaters and vegans alike for destroying the planet. Those people can go somewhere.
However it does come from a good place and they're just trying to help people even if the way they help people can come off as really harsh or hateful.

Let's unpack this.
Veganism is the philosophical position that exploitation of and cruelty to sentient beings is ethically indefensible and should be avoided whenever it is possible and practicable to do so. Vegans themselves do not claim this position is absolute nor do they strive for perfection. Rather, the accusation that vegans fail to be vegan because they cannot be perfect is an external one imposed by people who do not understand veganism. The term 'vegan' is defined as "a philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude — as far as is possible and practicable — all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose; and by extension, promotes the development and use of animal-free alternatives for the benefit of humans, animals and the environment. In dietary terms it denotes the practice of dispensing with all products derived wholly or partly from animals." The meaning of the word 'vegan' excludes the possibility of perfection, and vegans themselves understand they cannot hold their philosophical position absolutely. However, this understanding in no way prevents them from making significant, positive changes in the world by choosing not to harm other sentient beings when and where they can. Clearly, anyone who makes this same decision is 100% perfect in their veganism.

I think you're right - a lot of this "police" thing can be attributed to the youtubers. They're doing a great job at promoting the message, but could absolutely do without attacking each other for clickbait. I wish that it reflected on their yearning for viewers more than it did on the moral stance of veganism.
I know that even amongst the vegan community, some vegans have said things such as..."If Black Lives Matter too.... Animals Lives Matter!" I agree that animals,' lives matter, but they're just using the BLM movement to promote a different purpose. It's derailing the reason and intent of the BLM movement

I agree with you, using BLM as an animal rights tool is unnecessary. However it goes both ways, because any time a highly publicised crime about animals occurs you always see people saying "But what about the humans" & "Why are people worried about animals when people are being shot!!!!!?".
There needs to be less of it either way and more realisation that you can actually stand for more than one thing.

that's true...
I'm just really against vegan extremists that believes being vegan is only a two way street, rather than it being a broad spectrum,

Flawless taste in your sig by the way
Oh is that how it is? Well, personally, I don't see how that would make me feel any better about protecting animals if it's only "sometimes". I love animals so much, from fish to mammals to reptiles, I own them all. However, seeing that the goal of veganism isn't complete abstinence, then I don't see the point. I'm fortunate for whatever animals vegans are saving but if I can't fully devote myself in not harming anything then I don't see myself getting involved at all. Thanks for the info though.

My pleasure.
So, just so I can be clear - working backwards, because you love animals so much, you'd rather inflict more harm on them (and the environment, and your health), than less?
I Love MommaTang, I watch all of her videos but never get into the comments because im there for her only. She honestly helped me with recipes because when i first started i didnt know how to eat as a vegan myself.
