The GP>Marvel's Critics

Critics don't represent fans. Critics offer professional opinions to the general public. And everything indicates that the general public did not enjoy BvS. The steep second week drop shows poor word of mouth. CimenaScore, which polls actual movie-goes, was a B. The box-office multiplier was under x2, extremely weak for any movie, let alone a tent pole. So the critics were not wrong on BvS. We can't look at movie reviews through the lens of 'fans'. Thats not the audience.
The reason why the film is being compared to Marvel films is because they are an example of doing the job well. Critics agree, and most importantly AUDIENCES agree. Once again, take of the rose-tinted glasses of a fan and compare the quantitative numbers. It is NATURAL for critics to compare the movie to the biggest rival franchise. DC fans and Marvel fans have been at each other's throats. DC and its directors have made a point of comparing themselves to Marvel. It would be REMISS for critics to ignore the elephant in the room.

Professional? Execuse me, It's not professional when you don't exactly know what you're reviewing. A lot of these critics compare this movie to Marvel's other movies. It's like they expected it them to copy Marvel. If they did, critics would probably praise the movie but the fans will be disappointed.
Besides that, a lot of them, like Vanity Fair, don't give at least one clear reason why they say the movie's bad.
I get that Marvel is DC's rival as you said, but they're completely different from each other, and just because one is different doesn't mean it's off-beat. That's the problem with superhero films. Marvel has been doing all these cookie-cutter movies for so long and getting praised by them that they even set it as a standard. That's why other minor superhero comics don't make it to the big screen or at least the small screen.
