Yes. You just got to learn to distinguish edible and poisonous / not edible mushrooms. My parents and grandparents all do mushrooms hunting so they taught me to distinguish the mushrooms. All the mushrooms I pick are easily recognizable and it's practically impossible to mistake them with a poisonous mushroom. There is only one exception and that is not poisonous, only very very bitter of taste, so you wouldn't eat it anyway if you picked it by mistake.
And it is a free source of food. If the mushroom grow and you have time to do it, you can get many and many kilograms (or pounds) of food for free.

You should try it! It is very relaxing and also exciting to look for mushrooms in the woods. But I recommend you to find someone who knows the mushrooms to go with you, so you don't pick the poisonous mushrooms by mistake.
