Do you have "Read" on?
[iPhone Users]
Do you have Read enabled on your iMessage? If not, why?

No I don't like people knowing I saw their message. I tend to forget to answer people so I don't want them to get offended

No but I hardly ever text anyway. FB messenger and Snapchat let you know for sure if someone read it lol.

No, because some of the people I text are sensitive; and I'm tired of going back and forth with people about why I don't reply, why I stopped replying, etc. Having it on may trigger them and cause more problems
