It's dying because there have been no new features since releases & Niantic are terrible at dealing with user feedback/bugs
Like there was a bug with the footsteps, they've now just removed footsteps entirely AND shut down sites like Pokevision so you have NO way of tracking Pokemon at all I think it could've lasted quite some time but it'll definitely be dead soon & they have no one to blame but themselves!
Yeah, it has died down a bit. Some of the people who were playing it weren't even long-time Pokemon fans. They just bandwagoned the game because of the hype.

I played it like crazy like the first week, then it got boring as ****, and that combined with the three step bug just made me quit all together
as we can see with the dwindling number of players, most agree with me
