You don't know that.

Also your definition of advanced is probably extremely westernized which isn't surprising, and that's not even shade. We are all victims of Euro-centric mindsets. However, in the case for the US, the British wouldn't have survived without assistance of Native Americans. In all honestly, the British weren't really more advanced, they were just less humane.
I'm not thanking the British empire for anything.
