It's a song by Britney Spears in the year 2016. That sentence alone speaks for itself.
Then add to the fact that this is a very average song, there is no hype and no interest for it from the GP and her team and she herself are too lazy to promote it, let alone release the music video for it.
I'm starting to really believe that Vegas killed her singles career. 411k opening in 2011 to 75k in 2016. I think the residency has shifted the perception of her from a relevant pop star to an aging pop icon. At least it's done wonders for her personal health and performing abilities.

Chartwise, she shouldn't have embarked on a Vegas residency that soon in her career. Can you imagine Madonna doing the same thing?
While it's a better song than the awful Pretty Girls and disorganized Work Bitch, it needs promo to actually do some damage, which there is none right now.
She's in a really difficult place. She's too old to compete in the same lane as the new pop girls, but she hasn't developed enough artistically over her career to transition into a "mature pop artist" like Madonna did with ROL. "Make Me" is a solid attempt to mature her sound a bit, but I think the cake is already baked

The song isn't good. Like someone said – she's at an awkward stage. She can no longer compete and make the same music you'd expect from Selena Gomez & Rihanna and still expect success. She also can't mature and make a well crafted album like Madonna, Beyonce, Mariah, Janet, and etc were all doing by their mid thirties, it's the same cookie cutter Pop you'd expect her to sing at 24. She's not really gonna see strong success again while this continues.
Unfortunately, I think she's missed the boat on transitioning into a mature pop artist a la Madonna, Beyonce, Janet. The public image of her is already too hardened. Make Me is clearly an attempt to grow up a bit with her fanbase.
Because it isn't a good song. I like Britney. I like G-Eazy. I listened to that song one time on the day it came out on Spotify and immediately unsaved it. They should've kept it.
