This is why I love country music. Not the "beer drinking, slide over here in my truck and give me a kiss" type of country. I'm talking about the storytelling, the way that simple lyrics are taken and made into a narrative. Vice is a prime example of this. The second verse where she sings
"I wear a town like a leather jacket when the new wears off I don't even pack it. If you need me, I'll be where my reputation don't proceed me" and the beginning of the second chorus where it switches into
"another vice, another town, where my past can't run me down" going right along with the story in the second verse. The sadness that you hear from the annunciation of the word
"down". The subtle changes in the tone of the lyrics throuought the song adds so much raw emotion. Girl really knows how to write a song. This is why all of her albums are universally acclaimed. Another smart, beautiful song by Miranda Lambert, bravo Queen
