It was "more pleasant for pop songs" cause they auto-tuned the **** out of her. But then, one could argue: Is it really her voice you like, or the auto-tuned version of it that you like? I'm gonna guess it's the latter, since you only seem to enjoy pre 2009 songs.

you could say her voice was also a bit fake back then (just look at her talking ) but she def improved her vocals.
