At a 10-day music festival, concertgoers drink a lot of beer… and then they turn it into a lot of urine, which, appropriately enough, can be turned back into a brand new batch of beer!
For the second year in a row, a team of researchers at Ghent University collected urine at one of Europe’s largest festivals, Roskilde. By the time next year’s festival rolls around, one of Belgium’s breweries should have plenty of recycled urine beer to pour out for adventurous attendees.
You’ve heard of farm-to-table. Well, this amazing process was originally referred to as “piss-to-pilsner.” Nowadays, the team is going with “from sewer to brewer.”
