Cat poo could play an unexpected role in the fight to cure ovarian cancer, a study has found.
A parasite found in the pet faeces could be the next weapon used on tumours.
Called Toxoplasma gondii, the parasite is found in cat poo and contaminated meat and an estimated third of Britons will be infected by toxoplasmosis at some point in their life, but most people won't notice it.
Gross. That is one of the reasons why I hate cats. Look into that parasite. It's evil. It will literally take over a mouse's brain so that it no longer fears the scent of cats thus the mouse is killed and the parasite gets to move into a cat.
I see them mentioning it could cure the mice of several types of solid tumor and increase life span which is something. However do they know how long do the tumors stay gone/lessened and what other causes can these treatments have? There's a side effect to everything. Hope their research continues to discover helpful things.
