Salzman has returned for the reboot, premiering Tuesday, July 26. He’s joining forces with executive producers John R. Montgomery and Mark Teitelbaum to pull off a 2016 version of the show. Salzman says the timing couldn’t be better, largely because it’s summer—and “Saturday Night Live, the king pin of sketch shows, isn’t in production right now.”

Of course, there’s more to it than that. “Take a look at what’s happening in the world right now; the political conventions, Zika, the Olympics,” he continues. “It’s just craziness all around.”


Former cast members will be brought in to make cameos each week. “Coming up,” says Salzman, “we have Bobby Lee, Ike Barinholtz, Debra Wilson, and just a whole lot of great people. We are putting the stars that we made in the world of sketch together with this new team of people, bringing new characters and impressions.”

I saw a clip of it on Twitter and it had some old cast members which was kewl but otherwise it's a bit cringy

It looks great! But won't be able to watch it since the owners of CW has been tired and through and pulled the plug on my local CW station.

Dora the explorer had me dying!

I only liked the restaurant sketch. The other ones weren't really all that funny and seemed to go on FOREVER. That or like super obvious like the GoT sketch.

I see potential from the cast despite the pretty rough ratings (and lack of promotion on the CWs part)
The Dora bit was hilarious

I hope we get more than 8 episodes... otherwise they can't establish new recurring characters...

Same, it was the only one where it's 100% from beginning to end. I thought that was a well written sketch really reminiscent of old MadTV.

The opening prayer was kinda funny.

Will Sasso's Bill was funny, I thought the Trump guy did alright. Unfortunately Nicole fell flat as Hillary though. I can't really comment on Melania since she didn't really do much.

The girl who played Warren was creepy, her Kristen Stewart impression wasn't bad however.

The Dora skit was too dry, too dull and too long

I have no idea where they were going with GOT. It just doesn't hold up compared to older MadTV parodies.

I skipped The Bachelorette skit.

Cinderella sketch had some good moments.

I feel like Michelle Ortiz, with just a little more polishing, is going to outshine the rest of the cast.

Anyway, the show needs better writers, there weren't a lot of funny and memorable lines unlike past seasons. I hope they get rid of the green screen too, it made the Dora and GOT skits look like they were made by amateur youtubers.

Hopefully the rest of the season will be better.
