Firstly I want to say: I spot a current year argument
Anyway: People don't dislike SJW's because it's "edgy", it's because both SJW's and the extreme right throw away any form of nuance. They only think in extremes.
I am a very progressive liberal, which is seen as completely contradictory nowadays. But it comes down to that I believe everyone should have equal rights, equal opportunity, but everyone should also be allowed to have every opinion they want, and be adults and make their own decisions.
Even though I am 100% against any and all forms of sexism, racism, homophobia, etc. I am still called a bigot by SJW's when I disagree about just one movie being sexist. If I have a differing opinion, I am labeled a priviledged white cis male and my opinion is irrelevant.
Let alone all the different genders nowadays. Be you. Be who you want to be. That's fine. It makes you happy, and it doesn't affect me. But there's people who legitimately believe they are
dragons. And honestly, even that's fine. If that's how you feel, then you be you! But don't expect people to understand that.

There's activism and then there's ignorant preaching. SJW as a term has evolved to be a derogatory label for someone who advocates for causes that go beyond common sense.

I think we're in a society of extremes.
People are either extreme right or extreme left.
Something is either racist or it's not
Something is either problematic or it's not.
I don't see alot of people accepting gray areas now-a-days and how complicated alot of these situations are.

Those two posts basically sum up my opinion. Social activism is very important, but it's regularely going too far. Not everything stems from an inherent systematic form of discrimination. Discrimination definitely still exists, and it's a real issue, but not everything is discrimination.

There needs to be more nuance, but we won't reach that when you have the alt-right popularizing this idea that "SJWs" are bad. It allows people to be ignorant under the false assumption the people who are trying to change things do it maybe for ego, or to feel good about themselves, so it let's the alt-right be ignorant yet feel they're motivated by something else - to "take down all the egotistical SJWs".
The alt-right is more annoying than any SJW could be. It's annoying to see grown adults mock words like "trigger" and ask "HAHA IS THIS TRIGGERING YOU?" when that language itself was created for things like sexual assault survivors and domestic violence victims. There's a confirmation bias that allows people who subscribe to this new alt-right lifestyle/ideology that any concern re: social justice is "SJW!!" and so it's okay to go as far in the opposite direction that they feel is appropriate. People complain about "SJWs" yet half the internet trolls they fake-stan are things like Neo-Nazis and rapists. It ain't worth the kii to be anti-SJW~. Grow up.

On the other hand: SJW's are using the word "triggered" for the tiniest of offenses as well. I saw a woman say she got "triggered" when she got up in the morning, when she showered, when she dressed, when she etc. etc.
SJW"s themselves completely devalued the meaning of the word "triggered". It used to be about a sexual assault victim's reaction to what seems to be a hostile situation, and now it's about anything that makes you slightly uncomfortable.
