Worthy to note: Investors are dumb. Seriously, do you think Nintendo would ship an app off to promote an Nintendo IP WITHOUT the Nintendo logo somewhere.

Nintendo does have involvement in Pokémon GO though. They own stock in Niantic and 30% of the Pokémon company.

Investors are stupid as always.

Companies invested billions in Nintendo, thinking they were the ones who created Pokemon Go.
Nintendo didn't, and so Nintendo lost billions of investment, and are expected to lose more.

Basically investors just gave out money based on assumptions and not actually doing the research.

They own stock, yes. But investing in Nintendo expecting Nintendo to create more Pokemon Go's, when really they should invest directly to The Pokemon Company and Niantic, is much smarter and is what they have realised.

Why invest in Nintendo, when Nintendo are currently putting faith behind one game publicly right now, and are only reaping from Pokemon Go from owning stock, not creating more revenue for investors?

Oh yeah, but the article says that Nintendo has no involvement in Pokémon GO, which is false.

The investors will come again once Animal Crossing iOS slays.

TBH it's more a case that Nintendo are slightly better off than when they were before Pokemon Go.
Nintendo haven't lost anything, since the money invested is simply being pulled out. They aren't losing money.

It's true though. It only has involvement by association.
If Nintendo didn't own shares in The Pokemon Company and Co., Pokemon Go would still exist.

Nintendo had no involvement making Pokemon Go a reality, and they probably have no input other than making sure that Pokemon Go's impact will be mentioned when promoting Sun and Moon, and being able to say ;
"Remember Pokemom Go? That was based on the anime, based on the game, and this is the game! Buy it! Yes, it's not free like Pokemon Go, but....where are you all going? Why is only 20% staying? Wait, 15%? 9%?....." and such.

I was wondering why they would invest in Nintendo.

I don't get it. Doesn't Nintendo own part of the company? So wouldn't the Pokemon Company have to run everything by Nintendo in order to release the app? I'm pretty sure that's how it works. One can't do anything without the other.
