I feel like since around 2014, the buzz around iPads and Tablets is dying.
Laptops and Uktrabooks are becoming just as convenient, with more functionality which register Tablets as kind of useless. The selling point of Tablets was an almost desktop experience in a thin and small design.

But the issue is, people who weren't really interested in tech, have fallen in love with their tablet and iPad, and now they are wanting to do more than their little tablet can provide.

Another issue is, out Smartphones are becoming big enough that people can almost use their phone for any reason that they use their tablet for as well. It's no longer a 4" screen we are dealing with, and it's most likely the reason Apple held off as long as possible.

I know way too many children who aren't as interested in "apps" nowadays, and are slowly coming back to console/PC. I know adults who are sick of working within apps and just want to save something a desktop, or plug in a USB. The patience with tablets because they are shiny and new is over.

I say this as I work in the "entertainment" section of my store, and these are things that I'm hearing, and these are the issues I face when trying to shift stock.

I've found it easier shifting a MacBook Air or Ultrabook over an iPad or Tablet.

Tablets are useless. Its just a big phone tbh. I don't own one.

No, it's just a lot of people own one and probably don't upgrade them as often as you do a phone. The Microsoft Surface Pro is an amazing machine and probably where we're heading. The iPads great and everything but I could never do my university work on it like I can a laptop or the surface

Probably because they are children. Kids these days are addicted to tablets it's almost annoying. As for the entire tablet market, it's dying. Tablets were a fad and people who want to use them for reading will just use the cheap amazon e-readers.

No. They may not be as trendy and in your face as they were initially, but a lot of families seem to use them pretty regularly (e.g. for gaming, schedules, kids entertainment).

With everyone having big smartphones nowadays they became kinda useless.

I only use my iPad to read before I sleep tbh.

I can barely shift a Surface, no shade.

The only times I can shift are usually 18 - 22 year old guys, who already know what they want.
Everyone else looks at the Surface and says they might as well get the full thing, with a proper Keyboard.
We also never sell any MacBook models because the price is too high and people want USB ports Which is simply because the MacBook is a tablet-fied Laptop.

Imo, Apple and Microsoft are pushing for a more tablet oriented future, when the world doesn't actually want Tablets as a default device. The new MacBook, the Surface, Windows 8 etc are signs that they are ready to move on to the next thing to keep the market hot, when really they should just put their focus back to traditional.

If MS released a "Windows Notebook" with the style of the Surface, it would outsell the Surface line.

They are nice to read manga and books on and to watch shows and movies on but overall they're just like a bigger iPod. Spotify is really cool on iPads though and easy to navigate

My family got an iPad 2 when it had just come out yeaaaars ago and no one touches it at home... It's pretty old...

My uni did give me an iPad mini 2 this year, yet I own a macbook and use the macbook instead... others in my year do use their iPad on a daily basis

Surface is growing year by year, I don't know other tablets.
I'm actually looking to getting a new 8" windows tablets, because I find it extremely hard to read eBooks in my laptop.

Believe me, they do. I work in the business and iPads are still a thing.

I'm over them tbh. Why carry something that huge around when you can literally do all of the same things from your phone?

Yeah. I think they were a fad. They're consumption devices and not creation devices, and everyone already has their much more convenient smartphone for consumption and still have computers for creation purposes (i.e. typing).

I use my tablet all the time. It's really useful to watch things during long road trips.

I use mine all the time. I only use my laptop if I'm coding or about to code. I determined that the iPhone wasn't big enough. I would've preferred the 4.7" iPhone w the camera and screen of the 5.5" iPhone.
