It's a lot harder to get #1s with non-lead singles in Australia. Radio airplay doesn't factor into Australian charts at all, so that's a huge disadvantage to second, third, fourth etc. singles which have already been available with the album for purchase. Streaming is also a very minor influence; it's almost entirely a digital sales chart, which means a song has to top iTunes for that week to go #1 (like Rise was able to do). There's less chance of a second, third, fourth etc. single going #1 if another big lead single is released that same week, which will top iTunes and go #1. That's why we have so many different #1s per year and lots of #1 debuts with few long-running hits. Our longest-running #1 ever is only 9 weeks, I think.
