one case of a person being completely cured of HIV in the past, and that appears to have been using the same method used here, where someone with HIV receives bone marrow stem cells from a donor who possesses a hereditary immunity to HIV. It's not at all a practical cure for widespread use, because the procedure itself can lead to a myriad of complications and the patient will still have to take immunosuppressants for the rest of his life to prevent his body from rejecting the bone marrow, which will, ironically, open him up to more infections and a greater risk for cancer in the future. But it's still fascinating and should hopefully open up more avenues for future research.
