I think most of the Army just panicked at the thought of it dropping out of top 20 and bought extra copies

I agree, and that's why I try to be somewhat measured, point out that anything can happen, and try to always say "I think" or "I feel."
I'm just giving my honest opinion based off of what I know to be positive indicators of success. It could easily start to fizzle out, and if it does, that's fine too. I'm going to applaud the song when sees success, though, because it gets old to read meltdown after meltdown about its position on iTunes in its first week when hit songs normally don't hit their charting/radio/streaming peak until 9-20 weeks after release.
If the haters want to come at me the first sign of the song slowing down, that's fine by me.
Also, I screwed up in my original comment and said "Make Me" instead of "Pretty Girls." Edited it now, but I assume you knew what I meant! As for WB on pop, stations dropped the song crazy fast shortly after its weak callback scores. I don't think that will happen with Make Me considering its one of the most requested songs on the iheartradio Top 5, people are showing interest when they hear it by shazaming it, and streams are high. That usually coincides with listening audience approval which translates into decent callback scores.
Anyway, we'll see what happens! I know I tend to always show my optimistic side, but I hope I at least back it up with some facts and experience. This place can be such a cesspool of negativity even though we are all here because we supposedly enjoy music and want to connect with other likeminded people. Being negative and having tantrums just isn't how I roll, so I'm sure I come off as a delusional fanboy to most people, but that's alright, because at the end of the day, the most important thing is that I'm true to myself and always try to keep things in perspective.
(By the way, it's great being able to discuss things with you, Mr. Kerty. You keep things honest and real and aren't overdramatic, and you seem to always look at the big picture. It's one thing to be disappointed by a song's position on iTunes (I wish Make Me was still number 1 like every other Britney fan,) but it's a completely different thing to let its iTunes position color one's whole opinion on the song's success, especially when it's doing better-than-great on other platforms. Hit songs are generally built over time (Rome wasn't built in a day as a the saying goes,) so if anything, the fact that this song is still seeing strong growth on radio and streaming should be somewhat of a relief. Especially considering many recent Britney songs were front-loaded and then died quickly. Make Me, at least right now, looks like it's taking a different path.)

HIAM video premiered almost FIVE WEEKS after the song was released.
WB was just two weeks, I guess. "Just".

It's like unheard of to release a music video more than a week after the song comes out nowadays. It better not come in August.

We do have the #1 song in the country for ages without a video after months.
I wouldn't be surprised if Team Britney thinks that's the way to go if you wanna get a hit.

Britney isn't going to have Drake's streaming + radio power without a video. He has the luxury of waiting; she doesn't.

I totally understand your points and I agree with 99% of what you said... I try not to show any optimism I might have outside of a (supposedly) "safer" place like the base because I don't wanna give haters easy material to mock us and, most importantly, I don't wanna be disappointed for something I actually managed to let go of: charting. It took 5 years of Britney giving us hint after him that she doesn't care about the part of the music business for me to mature and realize she's done her best already, and it was so much in such a short time (her first 5 years as a professional singer) that she grew tired of it, and it's perfectly fine. Just so you know, I know pretty much nothing about Pretty Girls release week numbers because I simply did not care then. Honestly, it has a lot to do with the fact that I disliked the song, but aside from purchasing it on iTunes US 1st week, I couldn't care less after the video and the whole fiasco of the pre-taped BBMAs performance (and even then, I put on a face and defended their decision to not perform it in loco, lol).
That said, I'm here for the music now. I know I may sound like a broken record but I'm in love with the songs we got so far - PS also sounds great from what we heard - and that's enough for me. The totally (for me) unexpected iTunes #1 in over 50 countries, especially the US, in its first couple of days were a very pleasant surprise, but it's just that, a plus.
Now of course I will never not be annoyed by stupidity and incompetent so-called professionals like Britney's team. Of course she wouldn't need to be out and about promoting a new single, she's not a newbie, but her team is the absolute pits when it comes to marketing. But that's what it is: I get very angry at people half-assing their jobs. When you can't do something, either cause you don't like it or you have no skills, you only stick with it if you're need the money and have no other options. A bunch of managers that already milked a LOT of money from Britney's career don't "need" to stay doing something they clearly don't seem to be interested at keep learning and getting better at.
Ugh, end of rant! Thanks for the compliment, you're also one of the few here who can put ideas together in a mature and intelligent way, so it's a relief after what I've seen here over the last couple of years.
P.S.: I did understand you meant PG on that previous post.

Obviously. But that's you and me thinking. Her team seems to be stuck in 2003, when Britney was still much bigger than Drake.

She needs the video out ASAP.
Also, do we have a list of Army members? I lost it in all of the Make Me commotion

I completely hear you, man! And to be honest, now that you've gone more in depth about it, I definitely see your point even better. I don't want to become part of the reason The Army has a target on its back. I try to keep my enthusiasm contained here or in the single thread and try not to attack other fanbases or artists. I might not care all that much what other fanbases think of me (or Britney) but that doesn't give me the right to decide that for everyone.
As for what we've heard now of the music, I couldn't agree with you more. I love the direction and can't wait to hear the entire project in full. When it comes down to it, I'm just like you. It can bomb and everyone can make fun of its sales, but as long as it's high quality and I like it, everything is good. When she has a single out, I keep up with the charts just because I find it fun. Britney has been around for a long time (and will be forever) so she's had and will continue to have her share of ups and downs. At the end of the day, she's too talented and too electrifying to stay down for long. I know it always won't be sunshine and happiness, but that makes it all the better when she does see success. I want to see her make a good run, but if she falters, it doesn't get to me. For Britney, success is always only one hit away, and with a career built off of (now) 25 Top 40 hits, I'm just not too worried about it!
Oh and thanks for the kind words! Definitely appreciated!

Britney's last big hits didn't really feel "good" in what concerns real quality music to me, so if MM turns out be a hit, it's gonna feel a lot better and rewarding.
