Anyway, recently I've been watching The Purge films (currently, Anarchy) and while the movies aren't scary per se, the concept behind it is And I've been reading up online and a lot of people actually support it and think it's not a bad idea

What do you think?

Should it happen? Of course not.

Could I see it happening? Yes. I mean most governments will be openly against it,but let's be real...in some countries things liek that happen all the time, just not in "one night", but people being murdered and attacked because of stupid reasons. A lot of humans have it in them, sadly.

Or the wohle thing that happened in Turkey and Erdogan is happy that he can cleanse the military now etc., just another way of a "purge".

But yea, questions like "wouldn't a lot of people just outright mass-migrate out of America if that happened?" just really puts an end to the discussion of it ever happening in real life.

Let's be real here, the idea behind the movie is kinda utopian, because in the real world, no Purge would ever help. People would still do whatever they wished on th3 other 364/365 days of the year, the Purge day would just be the worst day.
Also the idea itself is presented misleadingly I believe, since they keep repeating the "low crime rate", but that's only because those thousands and thousands of murders are legal for 12 hours Like wut

No one will let that happen, and it won't stop crime, it will just increase it. Murder and violence is NEVER okay, no normal human being will let that happen

Lots of valid points in the video, interesting.

However about the protesting the Purge the moment it was announced is something that may/may not have happened in the Movie, based on it's timeline. So we can't say for sure it didn't happen, and even if it did, the Movie doesn't need to address it.

In Anarchy there is an "Anti-Purge" faction thing shown though, but yeah it's not well developed.

No. If it's one thing you can say about Americans, is that they value their lives more than others. They would never go out and kill people risking their own lives. Well maybe the criminals and unattended military veterans, but that's about it.

It doesn't make any sense... You really think everyone is going to be chill and never commit a crime all year just because there's one day they can do it legally? It's cute for a movie but even in a movie it's difficult to wrap my head around the logic...

As long as there's still drugs, poor communities, mental illness, human emotions and reactions, etc, how could you ever expect there to be no crime for the whole year?
