mmmm I feel like it's a little different for popstars. Not saying they didn't break up, they DID. A break is technically a break up. However, I do hope they eventually get to spend some time together. The problem seems to be them drifting apart. There could be other reasons too, but it does sound like they eventually want to work on it. Could just be them saving face though.

If the desire to make it work for both parties is there, then they stand a good chance of getting back together.

They're in an incredibly difficult situation with long distance and very demanding careers pulling them in different directions. I'm rooting for them. She deserves to be happy. And it's better to have a break now than get married and divorced within a few years of unhappy marriage. - that'd be harder to come back from. Engagements are more 'test periods' and 'levelling up' than announcing an imminent wedding nowadays.

From a selfish point of view, this means it shouldn't interfere with LG5 as this has been her reality for 2016 and not a recent blow. I imagine it'll inform some great music. Love and heartbreak usually does.

If it is true like Mindtrappa said, they've been on and off quite frequently throughout the year. As you've said they both have very demanding careers so it is different for them under the circumstances placed by their careers. I don't necessarily think they will get back together, but I think they do have a lot of love for each other still. I hope it ends up working out. I'm also glad it wasn't like very recent as well, but it could explain some of her silence.

i'm sad but they are mature people and if it doesn't work out, it doesn't. i'm glad they didn't marry after all. and on the plus side it means no planned babys in the future.

she didn't look upset or sad in mexico so i guess this was a long time coming. it's gonna be interesting to see how much it influenced lg5. cause i'm sure it did.

LG5 is very much shaping up to be an endurance album. Despite all her successes in the past two years she's coming off the back of an album that experienced intense scrutiny, and a maybe-conscious-uncoupling - the material might really come through. Very much here for a three-side look at survival (enduring it all), revival (bringing back the good stuff) and finally arrival...being a stage in the album that we see her forge a new path.

i like the timing of the announcement. first she got on vacation so we knew she's "happy" and then they waited for swiftdrama to end and just put it out now.

i guess they had to make it official cause people would have asked her about the wedding in interviews.

it's cute that they said it's a break for now but let's be realistic. they couldn't make it work during her down-time, it will be really hard to get together once she gets on the road again

That statement gives me hope. Even if it does go south, they'll have tried hard and hopefully this will make things easier to deal with.
