I heard a report way back in like August or September from a supposed insider that said Trump wanted to get the nomination and then come in a "valiant" second place in the election. He would do it so that he could prove all of the people wrong that said for decades that he couldn't even run a successful campaign plus he would boost his celebrity and business in the process.
